Exercise – select five applications that you have not heard of before from Popular URL’s Web 2.0 awards or the web ware awards and describe on your blog page how they could be useful to a business.
1. Skype: The online video calling program called Skype allows for consumers to video call each other over the internet from anywhere around the world. This would be to a great degree helpful to a business as it takes into consideration them to convey without being straightforwardly conversing with each other through video conferencing as one on one or as a substantial gathering.
2. YouTube: YouTube allows for consumers to freely upload videos and other visual material to one definite location for the world to see. This could be useful for a business as it is a major source of free advertising allowing access to the company to the whole world.
3. Facebook: Nearly everyone on the planet knows what Facebook is therefore businesses should take advantage of this as it allows for businesses to set up a page with information about the site that is easily accessible to the whole world.
4. Yelp.com: Yelp is an online reviews service for local eateries and attractions. Users can leave reviews for any business they’ve been to, including photos and personal anecdotes. Yelp then gives the establishment a 1-5 star rating based on the total number of user ratings, which makes it easy to find out whether or not a restaurant is worth going to.
5. Windows live messenger: Windows messenger allows for quick and instant chat between people anywhere in the world. A business that adopts this program can quickly talk to anyone anywhere about anything and is a quicker alternative to emails.
